Warcraft III Frozen Throne Orc Strategy (Beginning)
A general Orc strategy for the beginning of the game that I find effective
1. Send 3 Peons to the Gold Mine
2. Build an Altar of Storms
3. Build a Burrow
4. Send the first built Peon to mine gold
5. Send the second to build a Barracks
6. Send the rest to mine Lumber
7. When the Burrow is finished, have that Peon mine Lumber
8. When the Altar of Storms is finished. Have that Peon mine GOLD (I did this incorrectly in the video)
9. Build a Hero ( I chose Shadow Hunter, explained later)
10. Build another Burrow
11. Build a Grunt (If done properly, once the Barracks is done building, you will have enough gold to build the Grunt right away
12. Go attack low level creeps (I attacked the wrong group to start, but with the Shadow Hunter it is do-able
13. Build a War Mill
14. Build a Voodoo Lodge
After that point, you should make your moves based upon your opponent's race, skill level, and what they are doing.
If followed properly, this strategy does not wait on Food or Gold, only build time (that is not intentionally delayed to alleviate one of the other wait times). Which is why I like it and find it extremely effective.
I choose Shadow Hunter as my first Hero (Usually) for the Healing capabilities, the Orc units do enough damage that another high DPS is not necessary early game. Since the Orcs don't get very much healing, choosing the Heal skill right away keeps the Grunts alive longer, which means less gold lost to dead units.
I also find the Far Seer to be a helpful companion for the Shadow Hunter, providing the chain lightning skill. However, going this route is extremely reliant on mana, and your opponent can take advantage of that with Mana Burn/Drain.
